About Steve McKnight

Steve McKnight (b. 1972) is one of Australia’s most sought after real estate speakers and commentators.

His expertise stems from his experience acquiring well over 350 properties since May 1999, and from training thousands of investors on how to use real estate to create significant wealth.

McKnight’s approach to property investing is rather unique, cautioning people to be beware of negative gearing and to instead embrace what he calls ‘cash and cash flow investing’.

A qualified chartered accountant, McKnight started his own accounting practice in 1999 before selling it in 2006 when the income from his real estate investments was sufficient to replace the money earned from his practice.

More recently, in addition to his Australian portfolio, Steve has been acquiring low-priced, high-yield property in the United States of America, in addition to exploring cash flow opportunities via US tax liens.

Aside from his investing, McKnight is a best-selling author and highly sought after speaker and commentator. His first book, From 0 to 130 Properties In 3.5 Years is Australia’s highest selling real estate book, with over 160,000 copies sold.

McKnight has been widely interviewed on TV and radio, and extensively featured and quoted in the print media. He has also been an expert speaker at conferences within Australia, and in New Zealand, Canada and the United States of America.

He is also a passionate educator. He holds bi-annual investor briefings in Australia’s major capital cities, as well as offering a ‘Property Apprenticeship’ where he teaches budding investors the art of analysing, buying, managing and selling real estate like an experienced property investing veteran. Graduates walk away substantially more confident and capable with their investing, and a nationally recognised qualification: a Certificate IV in Business.

Outside of investing, McKnight loves to coach basketball, although his playing days are over after two minor knee operations. Nowadays he prefers long walks with his Golden Retriever.

He is married with two daughters and lives in Melbourne.
